Cutting boards
Cutting boards are a great way to use all the many cutoff pieces that I somehow can’t seem to part with. The walnut cutting boards with turquoise inlay came from cracked cutoff ends that would normally be discarded. They were reborn as unique cutting boards by simply filling the cracks with epoxy and turquoise powder, sanded and then sealed with food safe polyurethane.
The others shown here were made from leftover scraps of an oak plank that came from a reclaimed Chicago river pylon. I left them in their natural irregular shapes and small pieces for on-the-go portability use. Also shown here are others made from scrap African Mahogany and rustic Douglas Fir. Reduce refuse, reuse everything.
